How to Download the versus App on iPhone, Android and Web
26 September 2026
How you get versus depends on your device, and on Android it is not where you might look first. This guide covers all three ways in, how to be sure you have the real app, and what is worth setting up before your first trade.
The Short Answer
- iPhone: the App Store, where the app is listed as "versus | Prediction Markets".
- Android: a direct download from versusapp.com. It is not in the Play Store.
- In a browser: the web app, with nothing to install.
Whichever route you take, you reach the same product: a prediction market app licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, with markets across politics, finance, sport, AI, crypto and entertainment.
On iPhone: the App Store
Open the App Store and search for versus. The listing you want is called "versus | Prediction Markets". Check that exact name before you install anything, because search results for a common word can include apps with similar names that have nothing to do with us.
Once the app is installed, open it and create your account. You need to be 18 or over.
On Android: a Direct Download From versusapp.com
On Android, versus comes as a direct download from versusapp.com rather than through the Play Store. Searching the Play Store will not find it, and an app with a similar name there is not ours.
The steps are the same as for any app installed from outside the Play Store:
- Open versusapp.com in your phone's browser and start the Android download.
- When the download finishes, open the file.
- If your phone asks, allow your browser to install unknown apps. This is a standard Android permission for any app that does not come from the Play Store, the wording varies between phone makers, and you can switch it off again in your settings afterwards.
- Install the app, open it and create your account.
Only take the file from versusapp.com. A copy of an app file passed around on another site, in a message or in a group chat can be altered, and there is no way to tell by looking at it. If you are ever unsure, delete it and start again from versusapp.com.
In a Browser: the Web App
The web app runs in a browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to remove afterwards. It is the simplest way to look around before you decide anything. Open the current predictions to see how markets are laid out and what a price looks like.
Every market names the source that settles it before you trade. Reading that line first is a good habit on any device, because it tells you where the answer will come from.
How to Tell You Have the Real versus
Four quick checks help you avoid lookalikes:
- The name. On the App Store the listing is "versus | Prediction Markets".
- The address. The Android download and the web app both sit on versusapp.com, so the address in your browser should end in versusapp.com before you download anything or sign in.
- The licence. versus is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission under account 101143. You can look that up yourself on the Commission's public register. Operating these markets in Great Britain without that licence is not legal.
- The money. versus settles in ordinary money, not cryptocurrency, and does not accept credit cards, because licensed operators in Great Britain may not take them. Anything asking you to pay in crypto or by credit card under our name is not us.
Before Your First Trade
Once you are in, three things are worth doing before you put any money in.
Set a limit first. Safer Play is built into the app: deposit limits, loss limits, reality checks, time out and self exclusion, alongside GAMSTOP. A deposit limit set on a calm day still holds on a less calm one. The safer play page explains each tool.
Understand what a price means. Every price sits between 0p and 100p, and it is the market's estimate of how likely the outcome is. A winning contract settles at 100p and a losing one at 0p. While a market is open you can sell your position at the current price instead of waiting for the result. Your loss can never be more than what you put into a position, because there is no leverage and no margin call, but you can lose the whole amount you put in.
Know the cost. The only fee on a trade is a transaction fee of 2% of the stake, added on top of the stake with no cap, and it is shown before you confirm. Say you put 500p into a position: the fee is 10p, so 510p leaves your balance. Deposits and withdrawals are free within normal limits.
How it works walks through a first trade from start to settlement.
Getting Money Out
Before your first withdrawal you verify your identity with a photo of a government ID and a selfie. That is anti money laundering law rather than a house rule, and it usually clears in minutes. Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with, and the timings for each method are shown in the app.
Customer money is held separately from company money. If a complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, there is an independent route you can take it to.
Which Way In Suits You
If you only want to see what is on offer, start with the web app: nothing to install, and you can simply close the tab. If you would rather have it on your phone, the iPhone app or the Android download puts it on your home screen. Behind every route sits the same licence and the same fee.
Prediction markets are entertainment with real money at stake, not a way to make money. If it stops feeling like entertainment, the tools on the safer play page are the place to start, and BeGambleAware offers free, confidential advice.
For anything else, the FAQ answers the questions that come up most often, and what is the versus app explains the product itself in plain terms.
