This market resolves YES if, by the specified date at 05:59 CET/CEST the following day, the U.S. government has received at least one payment from a shipping company, vessel, foreign government, or another relevant entity as a fee, toll, or reimbursement connected to transit through the Strait of Hormuz or the protection of shipping in the Strait. Otherwise, it resolves NO. What qualifies: A payment of any amount or at any rate counts. Payment may be made in money or in kind, including through a share of cargo or oil. It may be collected directly by the U.S. government or by an agent, contractor, or intermediary acting on its behalf, provided it is received under a fee imposed by the United States or an applicable compensation arrangement. Actual-payment requirement: Announcing, signing, or creating a fee program, executive order, regulation, or collection system is not sufficient by itself. At least one qualifying payment must actually be received before the deadline. What does NOT qualify: Payments collected by Iran or another party acting for its own benefit do not count. Payments arising from preexisting obligations—including U.S. customs duties, tariffs on goods imported into the United States, and ordinary port charges—are also excluded unless they are newly imposed as a condition for transit through the Strait of Hormuz or for shipping protection in the Strait. Resolution source: Official announcements from the U.S. government and a consensus of credible reporting.
