This market resolves according to the public ticker symbol OpenAI uses in an IPO by January 1, 2028 at 05:59 CET. An official announcement from OpenAI stating that it will go public under a specific ticker symbol will be enough to resolve this market. If OpenAI uses a ticker in a qualifying IPO that is a variation of a listed ticker with extra letters indicating a particular share class, it will be treated as that listed ticker. For example, if OpenAI uses $OPAI.A or $OPAIA, this market will resolve to $OPAI. If OpenAI announces an IPO with multiple tickers that are not treated as the same ticker under the rule above, this market will remain open until OpenAI’s first day of public trading. It will then resolve according to the ticker representing the share class with the highest market capitalization. Market capitalization will be calculated by multiplying shares outstanding by the closing share price on the first trading day. If that still results in a tie, the market will resolve to the ticker that comes first alphabetically. If OpenAI goes public under a ticker not listed in this market, or does not complete an IPO or officially announce an IPO and ticker symbol by January 1, 2028 at 05:59 CET, this market will resolve to “Other.” The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI and the primary exchange’s official listing page. If the relevant figure is not shown there, another reliable source will be used. If normal trading is interrupted on OpenAI’s first trading day, such as by a circuit breaker or half-day session, the market will use the official closing price from that abbreviated session. If no official closing price is published for that session, the market will instead use the closing price from the next trading day for which an official close is published, and that day will be treated as the first trading day for the purposes of this market.
Each percentage is the market’s current estimate of how likely that answer is. A contract settles at 100p if the answer is right and at 0p if it is wrong.
