This market resolves to “Yes” if, between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, the World Health Organization explicitly describes Ebola virus disease, Ebola, any Ebola strain, or any Ebola outbreak as a “pandemic” in an official public communication. Otherwise, it resolves to “No.” A qualifying characterization includes official WHO statements, reports, press briefings, or publications that clearly use the word “pandemic” to describe the outbreak. A Public Health Emergency of International Concern, by itself, is not enough unless the WHO also explicitly calls it a pandemic. The primary resolution source will be official WHO communications. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
